History of Grama Panchayat
Mangalam Panchayat, which was part of the erstwhile Vettam princely state, holds the cultural status of "the light of the country" as the epicenter of Malayalam language and culture. This area, which was under the rule of the Zamorin, still bears the historical memories of the Kathakali reformer Vettam Raja and the campaigns of Tipu Sultan.
